The project entitled "The Future of Cultural Heritage: BIM-Based Digital Documentation and Sustainable Conservation Training," prepared under the leadership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Cemile Feyzan Şimşek, faculty member of the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, has been selected for funding under the TÜBİTAK 2237-A Scientific Training Activities Support Program.
The project will offer both theoretical and hands-on training on digital documentation of cultural heritage, Heritage Building Information Modeling (HBIM), laser scanning, photogrammetry, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based data acquisition technologies, and sustainable conservation approaches. The program aims to provide participants with practical knowledge and experience in contemporary methods and technologies for the digital documentation and preservation of cultural heritage.
The training program is scheduled to take place between 21–25 September 2026 at the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Bringing together graduate students, researchers, and professionals from universities and institutions across Türkiye, the event will offer an interdisciplinary learning environment focused on the digital transformation of cultural heritage.
Through this project, it is aimed to contribute to the development of qualified human resources in the field of cultural heritage conservation while strengthening knowledge exchange and professional capacity in digital documentation and sustainable conservation.
