We present you the Journal of Commercial and Intellectual Property Law (TFM). The TFM started its journey with the aim of becoming a school in the area of commercial and intellectual property law, which has a quite wide range of spectrum. This field, which can be defined as “law of trade” in short, includes legal branches having a direct or indirect connection to commercial law such as law of commercial enterprises, company law, law of negotiable instruments, transportation law, insurance law, maritime law, competition law, banking law, capital markets law, copyrights law, trademark law, patent law, law of industrial designs and geographical indications.
The effect of competition in the concept of trade has been increasing day by day. Hence, it now becomes possible to define commercial law as the law of competition. The best design and reliable legal functioning of all subjects in commercial law, such as commercial enterprises, companies and relevant regulatory bodies, are the most important indicators of the competitiveness of this area. At this point, the TFM, above all, aims to fulfil its mission of legal support for more competitive enterprises and companies in the next decades. Therefore, we would like the TFM to be a journal of competition and innovation law in real terms. We believe that our country with its history and its strong strategic position in the world can play an effective role in global trade only through institutions that have a strong legal framework.
The TFM set off with a handful of volunteers in a recently founded state university of Turkey. Success is indeed a result of work of a team. We thank everyone who has contributed to the emergence of the TFM, and invite everyone for further cooperation. At this point, we would like to remark the important support of administration of our Faculty and Yıldırım Beyazıt University, as well as the all colleagues who provide us support with their writings and opinions. We wish that the TFM will be beneficial to all our colleagues and interested parties studying in the field of commercial and intellectual property law.
