  1. I WANT TO GET INFORMATION ABOUT THE STUDENT ADMISSION CRITERIA OF THE PROGRAMS OF YOUR INSTITUTE. COULD YOU GIVE INFORMATION?

You can review the information announced in previous periods from the "ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS" section of our institute's website . Recruitment criteria may vary in line with the opinion of the Department Head.

  1. FOR HOW MANY YEARS ARE ALES SCORE VALID FOR APPLICATIONS TO THE INSTITUTE?

ALES score is valid for 5 (five) years.

  1. YDS, ÜDS, KPDS, TOEFL, IELTS, ETC. IN APPLICATIONS TO THE INSTITUTE. FOR HOW MANY YEARS ARE FOREIGN LANGUAGE EXAMS VALID?

Foreign language score is valid for 5 (five) years.

  1. HOW MANY PERIOD IS THE PhD PROGRAM?

The PhD Program is a total of 12 (twelve) semesters. The student who cannot finish the course by the end of the first 4 (four) semesters will be dismissed.

  1. HOW MANY PERIOD IS THE THESIS MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM?

Thesis Master's Program is 6 (six) semesters. The student who cannot finish the course by the end of the first 4 (four) semesters will be dismissed.

  1. HOW MANY PERIOD IS THE NON-THESIS MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM?

Non-thesis Master's Program is a total of 3 (three) semesters. The relevant student must complete 10 courses in 2 (two) semesters, prepare and submit the term project assignment and pay the remaining fee of the program. After these procedures are completed, the student's graduation process begins.

  1. WHERE AND HOW SHOULD I SELECT A COURSE?

Course selections are made online through the Student Information System (OBS) on the dates specified in the academic calendar.

  1. HOW MANY COURSES SHOULD A THESIS MASTER'S DEGREE STUDENT TAKE?

Thesis master's program students must take at least seven courses with at least 120 ECTS credits, one seminar, and a course on scientific research techniques and research and publication ethics for students who have not taken it before, determined by the proposal of the relevant institute department and the decision of the institute board of directors. It consists of other learning activities and thesis work. (The Department Board is authorized to determine courses beyond the student's minimum number of courses.)

  1. WHAT COURSES SHOULD A THESIS MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM STUDENT TAKE AFTER THE END OF THE COURSE TERM?

Thesis master's program students must take their thesis work and specialization courses after completing the course period.

  1. I AM A MASTER'S STUDENT WITH THESIS. I COMPLETED MY COURSES. WHEN SHOULD I SUBMIT THE THESIS PROPOSAL FORM?

In the first semester after you complete your courses, the Thesis Proposal Form is prepared in the FORMS " section of our Institute's website and after completing the signatures on the form, the relevant form is delivered to the Department Head by the student. The Department will forward it to our Institute after the necessary signatures are completed.

  1.  HOW MANY COURSES SHOULD A PhD PROGRAM STUDENT TAKE?

For students accepted to the doctoral program with a master's degree with thesis, at least seven courses, seminars, other learning activities (articles, conferences, papers and the like) determined by the proposal of the relevant institute department and the decision of the institute board of directors, qualifying exam, thesis proposal and It consists of at least 240 ECTS credits, including thesis work.

For students accepted with a bachelor's degree, at least 14 courses, seminars, other learning activities (articles, conferences, papers and the like) determined by the proposal of the relevant institute department and the decision of the institute board of directors, qualifying exam, thesis proposal and thesis study. It consists of a total of at least 300 ECTS credits. In addition, at least one course covering scientific research techniques and research and publication ethics must be given during postgraduate education. (The Department Board is authorized to determine courses beyond the student's minimum number of courses.)

  1. I AM A PHD STUDENT. I COMPLETED MY COURSES. WHEN SHOULD I TAKE THE PROFICIENCY EXAM?

Doctoral students must complete their courses and take the qualifying exam in the 5th (five) semester at the latest. A student who does not take the proficiency exam in the 5th (five) semester is considered unsuccessful. A student who does not take the exam in the next semester (6th semester) will fail a second time and his/her student registration will be deleted. In addition, the registration of the student who takes the proficiency exam in the 5th and 6th semesters and fails is also deleted.

  1. HOW DOES THE PROCESS CONTINUE AFTER A PhD PROGRAM STUDENT COMPLETE THE COURSE TERM?

The doctoral program student who completes the course period must take the doctoral qualification course.

  1. WHAT COURSES SHOULD A STUDENT WHO HAS SUCCESSFULLY TAKEN THE DOCTORAL QUALIFICATION EXAM TAKE?

PhD program students who pass the PhD Qualifying Exam must take the thesis proposal course and the course in their field of specialization.

  1. I AM A PHD STUDENT. I PASSED THE PROFICIENCY EXAM. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

For students who pass the PhD qualifying exam, a "Thesis Monitoring Committee" must be formed within one month. The Doctoral Thesis Monitoring Committee Proposal Form , available in the FORMS section of our Institute's website, is filled in, the signatures on the form are completed and delivered to our Institute.

  1. I AM A PHD STUDENT. I PASSED THE PROFICIENCY EXAM. WHEN SHOULD I SUBMIT THE THESIS PROPOSAL DEFENSE FORM?

The student who successfully completes the doctoral qualifying exam must defend his thesis proposal in front of the TİK (Thesis Monitoring Committee) members within six months at the latest. This subject is explained in detail in Article 31 of the AYBU Postgraduate Education and Training Regulation . CLICK FOR THE RELATED LINK.

  1. IF A PhD PROGRAM STUDENT IS SUCCESSFUL IN DEFENDING THE THESIS PROPOSAL, WHAT COURSE SHOULD HE TAKE THEN?

After the doctoral program student is successful in defending his thesis proposal, he must take his thesis work and specialization courses.

  1. I AM A THESIS/PHD STUDENT. WHEN SHOULD I TAKE A SPECIALIZED FIELD COURSE OUTSIDE MY COURSES?

Master's and doctoral students with thesis are required to take the course in their field of specialization every semester (including the thesis period) starting from the beginning of their studentship.

  1. I AM A MASTER'S/PHD STUDENT WITH THESIS. WHEN SHOULD I TAKE THE SEMINAR COURSE?

The student who is in the course phase must be successful by taking the seminar course once.

In the Thesis Master's Program, a student who cannot pass the seminar course during the semester cannot proceed to the thesis stage.

In the Doctoral Program, a student who cannot pass the seminar course during the academic period cannot proceed to the doctoral qualification stage.

  1. I AM A MASTER / PHD STUDENT. I COMPLETED MY THESIS AND PROCEEDED TO THE DEFENSE PHASE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The student, who has completed his thesis and moved on to the defense phase, fills out the Thesis Exam Jury Assignment Form, which indicates the main and reserve exam jury recommendation proposed by his advisor and the meeting day and time . The relevant form is submitted by the student to the Head of Department.

The thesis draft prepared in accordance with the Thesis Writing Guide is copied by the student and delivered to the jury members together with the Thesis Review and Evaluation Form at least 15 days before the meeting date by having the Thesis Delivery Minute Form signed. The Thesis Defense Exam Report Form is kept ready before entering the thesis defense .

  1. I AM A MASTER / PHD STUDENT. I WAS SUCCESSFUL IN THE THESIS DEFENSE EXAM. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The exam result is notified to the Graduate School by the Department Head, with a cover letter and the Thesis Defense Examination Report Form, Thesis Examination and Evaluation Form, Thesis Submission Report Form and Similarity Report attached. The student who is successful in the exam submits a copy of the final version of the thesis, prepared in accordance with the Thesis Writing Guide, to the Institute of Social Sciences for control. The thesis, which has been checked and approved, is delivered in 3 printed copies and 1 CD, by completing the procedures specified in the Institute of Social Sciences website / Useful Links / Graduation Procedures section.

  1.  HOW CAN I ACCESS THE THESIS WRITING GUIDE?

The Thesis Writing Guide can be accessed from the PROJECT/THESIS - GRADUATION PROCEDURES "   heading on the Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Social Sciences Institute website .

  1. HOW MANY COURSES SHOULD A NON-THESIS MASTER'S DEGREE STUDENT TAKE?

The non-thesis master's program consists of at least ten courses and a term project, with a minimum of 60 ECTS credits.

  1. WHAT COURSES SHOULD BE TAKEN AFTER THE NON-THESIS MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM COMPLETE THE COURSE PERIOD?

The student who completes the non-thesis Master's degree course must choose the term project course.

  1. HOW DO I MAKE A COMPLETE RECORD?

  1. WHAT SHOULD BE THE MINIMUM LETTER GRADE FOR A STUDENT TO BE CONSIDERED SUCCESSFUL IN THE COURSE?

The successful letter grade for the Thesis Master's Program is at least CB.

The successful letter grade in the PhD Program is at least BB.

  1. WHERE SHOULD I PAY FEES?

You can pay tuition fees at any Halkbank branch, Halkbank ATM or Halkbank internet branch with your student number. Payment will be made only with the student number, without the account number or IBAN number. Click for detailed information.

  1. I WANT TO CHANGE MY ADVISOR/PROJECT ADVISOR/THIS ADVISOR. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The PhD/Master's Thesis Advisor Change Form, which can be accessed from the forms section on our Institute's website , is filled in and the relevant form is submitted to the Registry Office of our Institute after the signatures are completed. The processed petition is reviewed by the Institute Board of Directors and action is taken according to the decision of the Board of Directors.

Note: Requests for change of advisor must be made until the add-drop period of each academic semester.

  1. I AM A PASSIVE STUDENT. MY ADVISOR WAS REMOVED BECAUSE I DID NOT CHOOSE A COURSE FOR 2 TERMS. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The Form for Appointing an Advisor for Inactive Students, which can be accessed from the forms section on our Institute's website, is filled in and after the signatures are completed, the relevant form is delivered to the Registry Office of our Institute. The processed petition is reviewed by the Institute Board of Directors and action is taken according to the decision of the Board of Directors.

  1. I WANT TO GET A STUDENT CERTIFICATE AND/OR TRANSCRIPT. HOW CAN I GET THE DOCUMENTS?

You can get the Student Certificate via E-Government or from our Institute, and the Transcript from our Institute.

  1. HOW CAN I ACCESS THE BOARD DECISIONS THAT CONCERN MY STUDENT?

Click on the general information sub-tab under the general operations menu in the student automation and you can learn about the decision of the Board of Directors in the window that opens on the right.  Click for details.

  1. I WANT TO APPLY FOR HORIZONTAL TRANSFER. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Horizontal transfer applications can be made online on the dates specified in the academic calendar.

  1. I HAVE COMPLETED MY COURSES FROM THE THESIS PROGRAM, CAN I GET A NON-THESIS DIPLOMA ?

If you complete at least 8 courses and seminars, there are things you need to do to receive a Non-Thesis Master's Diploma . These are: 1-You must apply to our Institute with a petition. 2-You must complete the number of courses to ten (10), and you will be entitled to 1 semester for this. 3-You must pay the tuition fee (you can contact our Institute for the tuition fee). 4- You must complete the missing courses within a semester and prepare the term project and submit it to the institute. When all these procedures are fulfilled, graduation procedures begin.

  1. I AM A NON-THESIS MASTER'S DEGREE STUDENT, CAN I TRANSFER TO THE THESIS MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM OF THE SAME PROGRAM?

Horizontal transfer can be made from a non-thesis master's program opened in the same Institute Department within the university to a thesis master's program.  Horizontal transfer provisions of AYBU Graduate Education Regulations apply. You can look at the relevant Regulation articles.

  1. I AM A MASTER'S/PHD STUDENT WITH THESIS, CAN I TAKE SOME OF MY ELECTIVE COURSES FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSITY? IF IT CAN BE PURCHASED, HOW MANY TIMES CAN I PURCHASE?

With the recommendation of the Academic Department Board and the decision of the Board of Directors of our Institute, students can take a maximum of two postgraduate courses in total from other higher education institutions at home and abroad.

  1. I AM A MASTER/PHD STUDENT. I SUCCESSFULLY PASSED A COURSE INCLUDING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH TECHNIQUES AND RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION ETHICS AT ANOTHER UNIVERSITY TO WHICH I WAS PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED AND LEFT/GRADUATED . CAN I BE EXEMPTED FROM THESE COURSES?

A student who is successful once in a course covering Scientific Research Techniques and Research and Publication Ethics applies to the Head of the Department with a petition for exemption from the relevant course. In line with the positive opinion of the Department Head, the exemption request submitted to the Institute results in the decision of the Institute Board of Directors.

  1. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO FREEZE REGISTRATION AND HOW MANY PERIODS OF REGISTRATION DO I HAVE THE RIGHT TO FREEZE REGISTRATION? 

Registration freeze application dates are determined in the academic calendar every year and are received through online application through the student information system. After the applications are completed, the applications made by the students are examined by our Institute and the opinion of the Head of the Department is asked.

Students may suspend their registration for a maximum of two semesters with the decision of the relevant board of directors, due to health, military service, education at domestic or foreign higher education institutions, financial and family reasons. In cases of necessity, this period may be extended by the relevant board of directors, which gives permission in accordance with the registration suspension principles of our university.

  1. I WANT TO CANCEL REGISTRATION, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

After the signatures on the Petition for Registration Deletion, which can be accessed from the forms section on our Institute's website, are completed (if there is no advisor, the Head of the Department can sign), the relevant petition is delivered to the Registry Office of our Institute. The processed petition is reviewed by the Institute Board of Directors and action is taken according to the decision of the Board of Directors.

  1. HOW ARE THE MILITARY EXPERIENCE PROCEDURES?

Cancellation procedures are carried out by the Institute through the Student Information System after the course registration process of newly registered students. For students who freeze their registration, requests for additional postponement must be sent to sbe@aybu.edu.tr after the registration freeze.

  1. WHICH DATABASE CAN STUDENTS ACCESS WITH THE E-MAIL ADDRESSES THEY RECEIVED FROM THE UNIVERSITY?
