Steps to Follow for Industrial Practice
Points to pay attention to about Industrial Practice:
1. Students must complete two mandatory industrial practices (20 workdays each). In addition, one more voluntary industrial practice (20 workdays) may also be performed by the willing students. The voluntary industrial practice can only be performed after completing the mandatory industrial practices. .
2. The industrial practice dates can not overlap with the final exam dates and summer courses. The industrial practice dates can overlap with make-up exam dates.
3. Second and fourth grade students can not perform two industrial practices in the same term. Third grade students can perform two industrial pratices in the same term.
4. Students who want to perform an industrial practice must have taken the majority of the department courses of the student's current grade and the previous grades. Succeeding specific courses is not mandatory to perform industrial practice.
5. Students must complete their two industrial practices either at two different companies or at different departments of the same large-scale company within the permission of the industrial practice comission.
6. Students must perform their industrial practice in a company that employs a minimum of three engineers, of which at least one of them is an electrical-electronics engineer.
7. Students must hand their internship acceptance form firstly to the authorized person of the company for signature and stamp.The form is then delivered to the industrial practice commission member research assistans for final checking. Lastly, the internship acceptance form and the general health insurance statement form (filled by the student) are handed to the department secretary. The students must fill in the personal and company information completely and attach their photo to the relevant blank before handing their internship acceptance form to the commission members.
8. All documents must be delivered to department secretary no later than two weeks before the industrial practice start date. Timely delivery of documents is responsibilty of students. In case of late delivery, insurance operations which is required legally for internship will not be done.
9. After the documents are handed, the insurance operations will be completed by the university and a social security institution (SSI) number will be provided to the students who do not already have a SSI number. The students who have to start their industrial practice before the determined start date must inform the faculty secretary about their situation.
10. Students must report all of their activities related to the industrial practice in their internship book. Attachments must be added to the book when required. It is prepared by the faculty and its first page include information about the industrial practice. Next pages include "dates" and "daily work". The book must be written with the font Times New Roman and size 12. A page number exists on every page. It is important for students to emphasize the work they have done throughout the industrial practice rather than just providing theoretical information in their internship book.
11. Internship book must be written in English. If there is a problem by company about approving of foreign language, students will also prepare an internship book in Turkish. Then, the company will approve it and students will provide their internship notebooks to the industrial practice commission, which are prepared both in Turkish and in English.
12. Students who perform their industrial practice abroad must deliver a notarized translation of their internship book in case their internship book is written in a different language than English.
13. After the internship book is filled in, each page of the internship book must be approved separately with signature and stamp by the engineer who is responsible from internship in the company. In case there is a missing of the stated conditions, the industrial practice commission may ignore the internship without requesting correction from the student. It is not mandatory to add diploma or chamber number to the internship book.
14. The signed and stamped envelope that contains the internship evaluation form and the internship book must be handed to the industrial practice commission in the second week following the start of the new term. This delivery date is not valid for final grade students who are about to graduate after completing the industrial practice.
15. The industrial practice commission may check the internship books for plagiarism within computer softwares if necessary. The internship books that are found to have high similarity percentages are cancelled and the student fails the course.
