AYBÜ’s Department of Child Development gathered at a workshop in support of the SUMUD Fleet. At the workshop, our Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Fatma Elif ERGİN, delivered a presentation on why the SUMUD Fleet is important. The initiatives of the ships Free Gaza and Liberty, which broke the blockade and reached Gaza in August 2008, along with the Mavi Marmara, the Women’s Ship (Zaytouna-Oliva), el-Awda (Return), and the Madleen and Handala ships, were discussed, emphasizing that the Global Sumud Fleet represents the largest civilian maritime movement in human history. We demonstrated our support for the Global Sumud Fleet on land by tying blue ribbons and making ships together with our department faculty and students.
