The Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBÜ) Software Engineering Club (ASEC) organized its Spring Picnic once again this year after receiving great interest last year. In this traditional gathering that brought club members from behind their screens into nature, participants both had fun and strengthened their bonds with one another.

The Tradition Continues to Grow

Long hours spent in front of screens in the software world can often harm our health and weaken social interaction. However, we know that success in our industry comes not only from individuals who write good code, but also from team players who can communicate effectively and express themselves well. With this idea in mind, the Spring Picnic, first launched last year, was held for the second time on Sunday, May 11, at Harikalar Diyarı. Building upon last year’s enthusiasm, club members made this year’s gathering larger and more vibrant than ever before.

Fun, Competition, and Solidarity Together

A full program of activities was prepared for club members throughout the picnic. In addition to team sports such as volleyball and dodgeball, nostalgic games like tug of war, sack races, and jump rope provided both a joyful trip down memory lane and plenty of entertainment.

One of the highlights of the day was the Taboo game. The word-guessing competition created intense rivalry and lots of laughter among the groups while also testing communication skills in a fun way. The most exciting part of the picnic took place on the go-kart track, where club members unleashed their passion for speed and competitive spirit. Team games and individual competitions strengthened solidarity and communication among members, while the warm atmosphere of the picnic also brought together members who had not previously had the chance to meet.

“We Code Together, We Grow Together”

The ASEC administration emphasized that the picnic was not merely an entertainment event, but also an important gathering point where club culture and a sense of belonging are built. It was once again highlighted that the club’s goal is to create not only technical competence, but also strong human relationships and a healthy community environment. The event concluded with commemorative photographs and the positive energy created by spending enjoyable moments together.
