Led by Gamze Güven Yalçın, Coordinator of the Learning Advisory Program at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and a certified AIETP trainer, the AIETP—the first phase of the 10-hour “Artificial Intelligence in English Language Teaching” training program—was held from February 10 to March 3. The first phase of the 10-hour AIETP training on the Artificial Intelligence in English Language Teaching Project was successfully completed with the participation of 20 pre-service and in-service language instructors from leading universities and K-12 institutions in Ankara.

Implemented with the support of the U.S. Embassy’s RELO Education Coordination Office and in academic collaboration with Izmir University of Economics, this training was like “seeds sown in fertile soil” for the participants. By enhancing their knowledge and skills in integrating AI tools into English instruction, the teachers also acquired “the creativity and skills necessary to train the educators of the future.”

Throughout the training process, participants described their experiences using metaphors such as, “The AIETP Training was just like a chef’s cookbook because it provided us with the right ingredients and techniques to create engaging AI-supported lessons,” and “A beam of light at the end of a tunnel, because it makes me feel I can now steer my journey more effectively.”

At the conclusion of the training, certificates were presented to the participants by the U.S. Embassy’s RELO Training Coordination Office. Following this successful first step, we will continue the project with our second group of training sessions in April. Because AIETP, as another participant noted, “AIETP is like an endless forest, offering an infinite number of tools to learn and limitless opportunities for learning.”
