One of the world’s leading pronunciation specialists, Prof. John Levis, visited our campus on Friday, 8 February 2025, together with his wife, instructor Greta Muller Levis. Prof. Levis, a faculty member in the Department of Applied Linguistics and Technology at Iowa State University, was first welcomed during his visit by Dr. Daria Şen, Director of our School of Foreign Languages, and Dilek Kılıç, Vice Director.
Following the meeting, in which the activities of our school and the role of pronunciation in foreign language teaching were discussed, Prof. Levis visited ÖĞMER and observed the centre’s practices and activities on site. During the visit, he was accompanied by our instructors Dr. Tarık Uzun, Dr. Mine Yiğiter, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurseven Kılıç, and Dr. Handan Atun.
Prof. John Levis is also among the keynote speakers at the international conference on pronunciation teaching, Voices in Harmony: Pronunciation Pedagogy for the 21st Century, which will be held on 16–17 May 2025 through the collaboration of the AYBU School of Foreign Languages and IATEFL PronSIG.
