We are thrilled to announce that Gamze Güven Yalçın, Coordinator of the AYBU ÖĞMER Learning Advisory Program, has successfully completed the Artificial Intelligence in English Teaching Project (AIETP)—a comprehensive teacher training program designed to empower educators to integrate artificial intelligence into language instruction!
Selected as one of 20 educators to participate in this impactful initiative—supported by the U.S. Embassy RELO and Izmir University of Economics—from over 370 applications, Güven Yalçın received training on the following key and critical topics related to AI in education during the 18-hour program:
- Understanding algorithmic and generative artificial intelligence.
- Exploring the ethical and responsible use of AI in education.
- Creating effective prompts and selecting the right AI tools.
- Designing AI-focused curriculum for other educators.
Under the expert guidance and inspiring mentorship of Alissa Nostas from Arizona State University, the training skillfully blended theory with practical application, featuring dynamic discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes using AI tools—enabling participants to gain valuable insights, develop a deeper understanding of how AI can be effectively integrated into language teaching with a human-centered perspective, and foster well-being.
We’re excited to share these insights with our colleagues! From February to April, we’ll lead two groups of 20 colleagues each and help them deepen their AI literacy.
