Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Civil Engineering started education in 2016-2017 with its first students. Our total quota is 80 students, 20 of which are reserved for foreign students. Thus, it is aimed to provide an education at an international level. The education language of our department is English. The duration of our undergraduate education is 4 years. Students who do not pass the English exemption exam will study English preparation. In our department, MSc and PhD programs are also open.
Since we are a state university, we are able to provide education to students from all families of the society. Being a young department will enable our first graduates to take place as academicians in our department.
Our undergraduate education continues in Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, 15 July Building. Our classrooms and laboratories will have the facilities we want. Building, Material, Soil, Transportation and Hydraulics laboratories are made ready for education. Since we are in the capital, we will increase the number of our faculty members to a sufficient number as soon as possible.
Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Civil Engineering Department will follow the programs of the world's reputable universities to develop engineering solutions to social problems.
Civil engineering is the basic engineering branch that combines materials and techniques in the best way, dealing with the planning, project, construction and inspection of structures. Civil engineers can use all kinds of buildings, dams, airports, bridges, roads, aqueducts, sewers, water mains, tunnels, railways, high-speed train projects, underground trains, etc. conducts training and research on planning, projecting, construction and supervision of service and industrial structures.
The Turkish construction industry, which plays a leadership role in the world, needs hardworking, visionary and productive engineers to build the world. Our department will contribute to the further advancement of the sector with the students it will train. The aim of our department is to provide better designed, well-operated, earthquake-resistant, and reliable structures against disasters such as floods with the research and development projects it will carry out. Another aim of our department is to ensure the creation of sustainable and improvable projects that will meet the increasing world population need through comprehensive studies.
As a civil engineering department, our main duties are to develop the theory, to develop the perspective and understanding, to create the necessary infrastructure to solve important new problems, to train the engineers of the future who focus their educational activities on the academic life and the future of the engineering profession and to contribute to the world social life.
In the education process, we aim to ensure that our students gain the equipment that will enable them to design, experiment and project individually as well as as a group. In this context, we also find the summer internship activity important for our students to gain practicality, and we will provide the students of our department with the necessary opportunity to do internships in the big projects of our country during the summer internships.
The department will give the necessary momentum, vitality and diversity to all its students, faculty members and staff to reach their high potential. This vitality and diversity will increase the innovative research of students and faculty members. Thanks to our department's creative, flexible, adaptable and forward-looking curriculum, outstanding classroom teaching and rigorous academic consultancy, individuals and projects that are beneficial to society will be produced.
