Announcement About 2025 Summer Internships

4/16/2025

The submission process for the 2025 summer term internship documents has begun. Our students must submit the necessary documents regarding the internship to Res. Asst. Hasanburak Yücel or Res. Asst. Resul Salman in room B-307 by 02.05.2025 at the latest.

During the submission of the documents, the company's suitability and the accuracy of the dates will be verified. Therefore, considering possible changes, it is recommended not to leave the documents until the last submission date.

The "Civil Engineering Department Internship Principles" document prepared by the internship committee answers all questions of the students regarding the internship. Our students are kindly requested to read these principles carefully.

Starting from this year, in addition to the documents already submitted, the internship commitment form will also be filled out, signed and submitted to the internship committee. The relevant document can be accessed under the name "Internship Commitment" on the page https://aybu.edu.tr/insaatmuh/tr/sayfa/1611.

If you have any questions other than these, you can ask your questions to Res. Asst. Hasanburak Yücel or Res. Asst. Resul Salman.

Before the internship

• You can access the documents and steps regarding the internship on the page https://aybu.edu.tr/insaatmuh/tr/sayfa/1611.

• As previously explained; 1 construction site internship and 1 office internship are mandatory, with the first internship being a construction site internship.

• Companies will be reviewed and approved during the document submission process before the internship.

• Building inspection companies and family businesses will not be accepted for internship.

• Although it is not required for both internships to be done in the same company, students who request this will be accepted if their reasons are deemed appropriate (company quality, unique project, etc.).

• For construction site internship; it must be done in a construction site where foundation, wall, column, and floor manufacturing, which we call rough work, can be seen. Construction sites where rough construction is complete and finishing work such as painting, coating, plastering, and whitewashing are left will not be accepted.

• For office internship; SAP2000, STA4CAD, ideCAD, Primavera, FLOW-3D, PTV Vissim, etc. programs belonging to departments such as statics, hydraulics, and transportation will be accepted. Offices that only use AutoCAD or Excel applications will not be accepted.

• Students who have completed their 2 mandatory internships can, if they wish, do 1 voluntary internship with insurance. Internship documents will be submitted for voluntary internships; however, they will not fill out the notebook and will not be evaluated.

During the internship

• Students will complete their internships in companies that meet the above conditions and fill out their internship notebooks daily. An internship notebook sample can be found on the page https://aybu.edu.tr/insaatmuh/tr/sayfa/1611.

Internship notebooks will only be filled out via computer (Microsoft Word etc.), handwritten internship notebooks will not be accepted.

Other rules regarding writing an internship notebook can be found at https://aybu.edu.tr/insaatmuh/tr/duyuru/21768/Staj-Defteri-Yaz%C4%B1m%C4%B1nda-Dikkat-Edilecek-Kurallar.

After the internship

• In addition to the evaluation of the internship notebooks, if deemed necessary, the internship committee will subject the relevant student to an oral exam. The internships of students who successfully complete the notebook evaluation and oral exam (if deemed necessary) will be considered successful. In this context, incomplete internships that were not physically performed will be identified.

• Internship notebooks will be delivered in 2 ways, as written and digital copies (delivery of both is mandatory). Completed internship notebooks will be delivered to room B307 in spiral form between the announced dates. At the same time, the internship notebook must be sent digitally to aybucivilengineering@outlook.com e-mail address.

• The internship report and the internship evaluation form must be given in a closed envelope. The official stamp of the company should be on where the envelope closes, and an authorized person should sign it.

• Black and white or color printouts can be preferred. Although black and white printouts are recommended, it is especially necessary to make sure that the photographs are understandable.

• The person who will conduct the internship and sign the notebook after the internship must be a civil engineer; internships approved by architects, contractors, etc. will be considered unsuccessful.

• The relevant internship supervisor must sign the necessary places on the relevant forms, but he/she does not need to sign every page of the internship notebook, it is sufficient to initial each page (except where signature is required).

• At the beginning of the semester, the relevant internship course CE 300 Industrial Practice I and/or CE 400 Industrial Practice II must be taken.
