Engineering Application on Site

About the Application

Within the scope of the Engineering Application on Site, students are offered the opportunity to engage directly with the industry and gain hands-on learning experience by actively participating in a company of their choice during the eighth semester. Throughout this process, students have the chance to observe the field applications of engineering disciplines on-site, take part in professional operations, and enhance their technical and professional skills. Accordingly, the course aims to equip students with substantial practical knowledge of the business world prior to graduation, enabling them to make a strong start to their careers.

*The On-Site Engineering Practice course carries 30 ECTS credits and substitutes for the courses required in the second semester of the 4th year.

*Students who wish to participate in the practice are responsible for finding their own internship placements.

Requirements

1) To have successfully completed all compulsory courses up to (and including) the eighth semester,

2) To have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00.

Application Process

Applications for the Engineering Application on Site must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start date of the Fall or Spring semester as specified in the academic calendar. Applications should be submitted to the department chair with a petition and the Company Acceptance Form.

Within the scope of the practice, students who participate in observation and application processes at the relevant companies are required to submit weekly reports to ensure regular monitoring of their activities. These reports are used to systematically track students’ progress throughout the period. The submitted reports serve both to document the students’ experiences and to enable the academic advisor to evaluate the process effectively.

ENGR450 Engineering Application on Site – Final Examination (Report and Presentation) Procedures

1. Complete your final report at the end of the semester based on the report format (Word) linked below. Make sure that the wet signature of the institution representative/responsible engineer (if there is a corporate seal, there is a wet signature on the first page and wet initials on the other pages) under all pages of your final report, including the appendices.

2. Please forward the evaluation form (pdf) with the link below or its print-out to the organization representative/responsible engineer, and hand it over to the Energy Systems Engineering Department Secretariat, without opening/damaging the sealed-sealed envelope delivered to you after the procedures are completed, by the date of the final exam at the latest.

3. In the final exam, the date of which will be announced; Please be ready to make a presentation that includes the main parts (parts 1-5) of the final report specified in the previous article and consists of a maximum of 15 pages/reflections in total. Before the final exam presentation, you must deliver the printed version of your final report to the advisor.
