Abstract:
This study presents the design and implementation of a high-frequency isolated DC-DC converter based on the Active Clamp Flyback topology, operating at 1 MHz and utilizing Gallium Nitride (GaN) transistors. The proposed converter integrates synchronous rectification on the secondary side to minimize conduction losses and enhance overall efficiency. By leveraging the fast switching capabilities and low parasitic characteristics of GaN FETs, the converter achieves both high power density and improved thermal performance. The design process includes detailed transformer modeling, clamp circuit optimization, and gate drive considerations tailored for GaN devices. Simulation and experimental results validate the converter's ability to deliver efficient power conversion with reduced size, making it suitable for modern applications requiring compact and high-performance isolated power supplies.
