Sultan Bayezid reigned the Ottoman Dynasty from 1389 to 1403. During the early years of his father s reign, he accompanied his father in wars and became a skillful commander. He was well-qualified. He was trained by leading scholars of his age. Before ascending the throne, he was in Kütahya Province as a governor. As required by his father, Sultan Murad Hüdavendigar's will, he was enthroned in 1389. He was 29 years old when he ascended the throne.
After his conquests in Balkans, he returned Anatolia and expanded the borders by taking control of many places. He tried to provide the Turkish Unity by seizing the Anatolian States. In his reign, Byzantine Empire became an Ottoman Province. Especially his victory in the battle of Niğbolu against Christine Allies had him gain recognition around Europe. Having conquered Salonica and Wallachia territories, he organized military expeditions against Hungarians.
In 1391, he laid siege to İstanbul for the first time, Although he attempted several times, he could not achieve this because of Timurrane threat in Easter Anatolia.
He had a quite determined personality. He had no tolerance to bribery and injustice. He used to give advice to those who committed a crime before punishing them. He was a talented warrior. He made many military reforms to strengthen the army Government gained great economic power in his reign. The army was paid regularly for the first time in his reign.
