Within the scope of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Conferences, a conference titled "Gaza: 7 October Background and Aftermath" was held by Gaza Academician Dr Nihad ABUNASSER.

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa ORÇAN, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Hüseyin TUTAR, Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences Prof. Dr. Hakkı ODABAŞ, Dean of the Faculty of Theology Prof. Dr. Murat DEMİRKOL, Director of the Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (ULİSA) Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim DEMİR and many students from various departments attended the conference.

Gaza Academician ABUNASSER explained the events in Palestine as a Gazan. It was emphasised that the events in Palestine did not start with 7 October, but emerged as a result of a systematic gradualism and persecution that has been going on for about a century. It was stated by Dr Nihad that Israel, with its monstrous feelings, considers those who do not belong to it as non-human and that this is a genocide, and that this atrocity can only be prevented by the liberation of minds. He explained that international organisations, especially the countries and societies in the region and sensitive individuals have a lot of work to do to solve the problem. From this point of view, it was emphasised that the boycott carried out by individuals is an extremely important means of resistance, that people should hold tightly to the boycott, that it should be persistently continued and that alternative products should come out with local brands.

As a result, he said that the situation in Palestine in general and in Gaza in particular is very bad, people are being massacred not only with weapons but also because of hunger, taking it to a new level, and that it is one of the most dramatic events in the 21st century. "Even children who go to school are imprisoned at home with electronic handcuffs." Apart from that, he stated that people are scared to death by demolishing their houses and forced to leave their country, but despite this, Palestinians do not intend to leave their land because this land is the holy city of Jerusalem, the first qibla of Muslims. Therefore, the conference ended by emphasising that it should be defended not only by Palestinians but also by all Muslims.
